OPTHOFF, Mrs. Lorraine C. Portage Passed away Thursday morning, June 21, 2007, in Kalamazoo. Lorraine was born April 15, 1918, in Kalamazoo, MI a daughter of Christian and Laurina DeHammer Kloosterman and had been a lifelong area resident. She attended Kalamazoo Christian School and Parsons Business College. Lorraine was a life member of Grace Christian Reformed Church and a member of the Dorcas Society. She worked for the Constance Brown Hearing and Speech Center for 10 years and then worked at American National Bank for another 21 years, retiring in 1983. Lorraine also volunteered at Bronson Hospital and Park Village Pines. On June 24, 1939, she was united in marriage with John M. Opthoff. Lorraine was preceded in death by her beloved husband on November 5, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Surviving are: 3 children, Carolyn Sutter of Portage, Joan Opthoff of Grand Rapids and John Douglas ?Doug? Donna Opthoff of Waterford; 6 grandchildren, Chandra Sutter, Stephan Sutter, Sheryl Bob Reed, Brian VanKlompenberg, Mark Stacey VanKlompenberg and John Martin ?Marty? Opthoff; 4 great-grandchildren, Brianna and Connor Reed and Isabella and Peyton VanKlompenberg; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Services will be held 12:00 noon Monday at Grace Christian Reformed Church, 1742 Whites Road, with the Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Brinks, officiating. Interment will be held 3:00 Monday in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the interment services should be in the cemetery cortege area by 2:45 pm. Memorial contributions should be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
