MAYER, Lorraine A.
Of Kalamazoo Went to be with her Lord on July 10, 2011. Lorraine was born May 29, 1916, in Kalamazoo a daughter of Henry and Minnie Elhert Koets. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and attended Maher's Business College. She was employed by the Upjohn Company for several years. Lorraine was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church except for a few years to establish Immanuel Lutheran Church. Lorraine was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, music, needlework, preparing meals and caring for others. On June 13, 1942, Lorraine was united in marriage to Norbert E. Mayer who preceded her in death on June 22, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frederick Koets. Surviving are: four children and their spouses, Mary Thomas VandenBerg, David Linda Mayer, James Jayne Mayer, Richard Debra Mayer; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be held at 11:00 o'clock Thursday morning at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd. Friends may meet the family Wednesday from 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street and Thursday from 10-11am at church. Private family interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials in Lorraine's memory may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.
