KUIPER, Lorraine G.
of Portage, Michigan Lorraine went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday afternoon, September 26, 2012 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born October 25, 1937 in Kalamazoo, daughter of the late Herman and Lavina Nagel Koster. Lorraine was employed by Trinity Lutheran Church for over 22 years until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church where she sang in the choir. Lorraine enjoyed reading, traveling and photography. On August 23, 1957, she was united in marriage to Herman Kuiper, who preceded her in death on September 16, 1990. Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Bonnie Smalley; fiancé, Ken Johnson; a sister, Joyce VanDonselaar; and a granddaughter, Ellianna. Surviving are her three children, David Laurie Kuiper of Portage, Diane Richard Thompson of Marshall, and Daniel Kris Kuiper of Portage; son-in-law, Juno Smalley of Chandler, AZ. Lorraine had a special relationship with her ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister, Carolyn Thomas Yost of Hudsonville; brother, Stanley Melissa Koster of Farmington Hills; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Lorraine will be at 10:30 AM on Monday tomorrow at Prairie Edge Christian Reformed Church, 9316 Oakland Drive, with Pastor Phil Kok and Pastor Juno Smalley officiating. Interment will follow in Portage South Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2-6 PM on Sunday today at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Bible League or Kalamazoo Christian School Association.
