DEWEY, Lorraine R.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Lorraine passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at her home with her family by her side. She was born August 29. 1929 in Kalamazoo, one of six children to Douglas and Dorothy Powers Hunt. On February 7, 1948, she was united in marriage to Martin Dewey. Lorraine was a longtime member of Texas Corner Bible Church. She raised over 100 foster children over the years and many of them still visit and call her "Mom". Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Martin; their three children, Ginny Frank Johnson of Mattawan, Walter Paula Dewey of Lawton and Denise Roger Spieldenner of Vicksburg; ten grandchildren, John Jackie Johnson, Teasha Johnson, Christie Ken Torres, Katie Dewey, Tori Kelly Hastings, Marty Dewey, Brandon Dewey, Kyle Dewey, Benjamin Spieldenner and Bradley Spieldenner; nine great-grandchildren, Dustin, Courtney, Brittany, Erica, Madison, Rylee, Braxton, Bailee and Aiden; sister, Doris Crawford of Vicksburg; four brothers, Jim Jerry Hunt of Washington, Chuck Lola Hunt of Florida and Lynn Kathy Hunt of Florida; sister-in-law, Jackie Hunt; and numerous nieces, nephews and foster children. Preceding her in death were her father, Douglas; mother, Dorothy; step-mother, Mildred Powers Hunt; and one brother, Douglas Hunt Jr. A funeral service for Lorraine will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 S. 8th Street, with Pastor Dave Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Virgo Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday from 2-4 PM and on Monday from 6-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street and on Tuesday morning from 10-11 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
