Formerly of Kalamazoo, MI Loretta died Sunday evening, December 9, 2007, in St. Paul, MN. She was born August 16, 1918, in Allegan, MI, a daughter of John and Irma Peak Mitchell and had lived most of her life in Kalamazoo. Loretta worked for many years in the kitchen of Borgess Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar Smith; a son, Clarence Mitchell, an infant daughter; 2 brothers; and 2 sisters. She is survived by 10 children, Shirley Wade of Kalamazoo, Wilhelmina Hayes of Toledo, OH, Connie Dee Roberson of Kalamazoo, Nicholas Laurie Mitchell of Kalamazoo, Michael Janet Mitchell of Racine, WI, Rosalee David Kirk of Racine, WI, William J. Burnett of Milwaukee, WI, Linda Greg Coleman of St. Paul, MN, Debbie Frank Smith of Toledo, OH, and Celia Smith of St. Paul, MN; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol Russell of Kalamazoo; a brother, Leo Mitchell of Allegan; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 1 o?clock Friday at the East Main Church of Christ, 2528 East Main St. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
