CURRY, Lois J.
Of Kalamazoo, MI Passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 8, 2009 at Borgess Nursing Home. Lois was born August 30, 1937, a daughter of Millner and Elizabeth Walsh Curry in Hickman, KY where she lived in her earlier years. She moved to Chicago where she attended high school and came to Kalamazoo in the early 1970's. Lois was employed for 19 years at the Upjohn Company until her retirement. She was a hard working woman and enjoyed world traveling, especially going on cruises. Lois was a member of the Christian Life Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, a step-father Rome Hill, by 2 sisters, Helen Ford and Glenda Curry and by a brother George Curry. Surviving are a daughter Vanessa Hawkins and a grandson Stetron Sernard Hawkins, both of Kalamazoo; by 2 sisters Gloria Mlemchukwu and Sheila Curry and by a brother Robert Curry; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held today Friday at 2:00 pm at the Christian Life Center, 1225 W. Patterson St., with Pastor Steve Griffin officiating.
