WESTER, Lloyd W.
Of Kalamazoo Lloyd passed away early Saturday morning, May 23, 2009 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born November 24, 1929 in Escanaba, MI, the son of William and Anna Wester. Lloyd was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by Western Michigan University for 33 years until his retirement in 1992 and was an avid professional and college sports fan. On April 16, 1955, Lloyd was united in marriage to Betty Knapp. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Betty Wester; 3 children, Ronald Hope Wester of Kalamazoo, Christine Roger Subacz of Gobles and Thomas Wester of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Benjamin Subacz, Jonathan Subacz, Elise Subacz, Heather Hann-Wester, and Justin Wester; 1 great-grandson, Austin Wester; 1 sister, Doris DeGrave of Escanaba, MI; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents; 1 brother, William "Melvin" Wester; and 3 sisters, Lucille Pearson, Gladys Nygaard, and Helen Oberg. Funeral services for Lloyd will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of services. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Comstock Community Center or Western Michigan University - Mike Gary Athletic Fund.
