Lisa Kay Bergthold

October 2, 1955 — July 7, 2024

Kalamazoo, Michigan and formerly of Davenport, Iowa

Age 68, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Lisa was born in Davenport, IA, on October 2, 1955, the daughter of the late Gene B., Sr., and Dorothy J. (Teel) Coppinger. On May 3, 1975, she married the love of her life, Thomas H. Bergthold, who survives. They recently celebrated 49 wonderful years of marriage.

Lisa’s life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and kindness. She believed deeply in the goodness of people and the power of love to overcome any challenge. Her unwavering faith guided her through life, and she always encouraged others to believe in the good and take life one day at a time. Lisa was blessed with a Godly spirit, which shone brightly throughout her life, leaving everyone she met better for having known her. She always retained her childhood belief in seeing the good in everyone she met, and her laughter brought smiles to the faces of those around her.

Lisa’s greatest joy was her family. She adored her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them. Her warm and loving nature made her the glue of the family and a peacemaker who could always be counted on for support. Her infectious laughter and beautiful smile brought joy to those around her, and her favorite saying, "I love you to the moon and back," will always be remembered by her loved ones.

Lisa was also a cherished friend to many, always willing to lend an ear or a helping hand. She had a profound love for the beach and summer days, enjoying countless hours by the pool. She had a fondness for Mustangs and a passion for sewing, crocheting, and reading. Her mornings began with coffee on the front porch, savoring the quiet moments. Lisa delighted in simple pleasures like playing slots, going on shopping trips, sharing hugs, and spending time with family. She enjoyed Halloween parties, watching birds, snuggling with her fur babies (dogs), and indulging in home-popped popcorn, Twizzlers, ice cream, tacos, margaritas, and root beer.

Besides Tom, Lisa is survived by her children, Joanna (Bryan) Moore, Stacy (Andrew) Adelmann, and Joseph (Lindsey) Bergthold; grandchildren, Morgan (Justin) Smith, Darcy (Michael) Swartz, Duane Moore, Natalie and Kaylee Adelmann, and Jackson, Brooklyn, and Lyla Bergthold; five great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Mae Coppinger; brother, Gene B. Coppinger, Jr.; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Juli Anne Bergthold, and brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Wanda Coppinger.
