WALTERS, Linda J.
Of Portage Linda passed away Friday afternoon, November 2, 2012 at her home. She was born February 1, 1948 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Robert Sr. and Valda Moore Harback. In 1966, Linda graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, where she was involved in the high school plays and musicals working on backgrounds and make-up. On August 3, 1968, she was united in marriage to William "Bill" R. Walters, Jr. In 1974, they welcomed their only daughter, Kelly. Linda volunteered as a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for 6 years from 1981-1987 for Troop 302. She also helped put on the Waylee Elementary School carnival and volunteered for the Band Boosters at Portage Central High School. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, Bill Walters; daughter, Kelly Tim Jansen Walters of Kalamazoo; father, Robert Harback Sr. of Kalamazoo; two brothers, Robert Harback Jr. and Ronald Bonny Harback Sr.; one sister, Joan Harback Bale; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Linda will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Avenue. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Thursday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to SPCA of Southwest Michigan or American Lung Association.
