Linda Ann Johnston

Passed away Thursday afternoon, November 30, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Linda was born April 3, 1936 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Ralph and Mary (Boileau) Leeuw. Despite health issues that manifested in the early 70’s, Linda remained as active as possible.  She loved her charity work volunteering at the Portage Community Outreach Center and since she was an avid reader, she enjoyed volunteering at the Portage Public Library. Linda also enjoyed many arts and crafts from knitting, sewing and refinishing furniture which she shared with her family and friends. Her independence and ability to adapt to any situation was a strength Linda was very proud of, but she was most proud of the successes of her three sons.

Linda is survived by her sons, Mark (Amy) Johnston, Greg (Barb) Johnston, Jason (Amy) Johnston; grandchildren; Jesse Johnston, Jenna (Chris) Santos, Brooke Johnston, Brent Johnston, Samantha “Sam” Johnston, Megan Johnston, Margaret Johnston; and great-grandchildren; Wallace Johnston, Bert Johnston, Oliver Santos and Bailey Mitchell. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jim Leeuw. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Wednesday, December 6 at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, 411 East Centre, Portage, MI 49002 where funeral services will be held at 11:00am.
