of Galesburg Lila passed away peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness She was born in Brookland, Arkansas on June 19th, 1925. Lila was one of 13 children and is survived by her twin sister Ila May Cole, of Waynesboro, Tennessee; her three children, a son Odell Wayne Hill Angela of Galesburg, Michigan, Linda Fae Berger Terry of Mattawan, Michigan, and Donna K. McKissick Rick of Bloomingdale, Michigan . Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Laurie Buskirk Tim of Gobles, Michigan; Gabriel Hatfield Nikki of Galesburg, Michigan; Tierra Engberts, Mike of Detroit, Michigan; David Hill Brenda of Richland, Michigan; Rebecca Vandercook Ron of Atlanta, Georgia; Nicole Henry Mike, of Concord, North Carolina; Michelle Hoffmann, of Grand Blanc, Michigan; Michael Smith of Bloomingdale, Michigan and Amber Latham Jay of Spring Hill, Florida., and several great grandchildren. Lila was preceded in death by her first husband, Odell Chester Hill, who passed away in August of 1957. In 1963, she remarried Jack T. Shipe who passed away in December of 2002. Lila lived a long and rewarding life with many hobbies and interests. She spent most of her later years wintering in Okeechobee, Florida and summers at her home in Galesburg. She dearly loved her family and we will miss her greatly. She wished to be cremated and her ashes buried in Oak Grove Cemetery beside her husband. Her wishes are being carried out with a small family gathering at her gravesite. A celebration of life ceremony will be held Thursday, January 19th at 2:00 PM, at the Kalamazoo Missionary Church, at 5045 E. Mich. Ave. just East of Sprinkle Road. Donations to the church may be made in lieu of flowers.
