Leota M. (Fox) Harrison

Leota M. Harrison, age 100, of Portage, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was born March 21, 1919, the daughter of William Fox and Ida (Granger). Leota was married to Vernon Harrison, June 23, 1939. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Gerald) Maze, Sharon (Gordon) Middleton and Gwen Harrison; grandsons, Douglas (Jessica) Middleton and Matthew (Eve) Middleton; seven great-grandchildren, granddaughter, Denise Gross, grandson, Steven Perry; step grandchildren, Ken (Debbie) Todd and Tony (Sheila) Maze; and 2 special nieces, Alice Mouw and Phyllis Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Harrison, of 60 years; her brothers, Duane, Howard and Leo Fox; and her sister, Thelma Cooley. A service to celebrate Leota's life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Kalamazoo First Assembly of God Church 5550 Oakland Drive, Portage, MI. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service and again following the service. Private interment will take place in Schoolcraft Cemetery. Leota enjoyed being a seamstress and her work as a lunchroom supervisor with elementary students. She was very involved in her church as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Director of Missionettes, Director of Food Pantry, Missionary Secretary and served at many funerals and weddings. She was always concerned that others were OK and taken care of. Her motto: "Be Kind".
