Leonard (Len) Eugene Wagaman, 98 of Kalamazoo, MI peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, during the early morning hours of December 13, 2024 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Leonard longed for the day when he would see Jesus and spoke of it often with his family and friends. He was born in Fulton, MI on June 20, 1926, to Oscar and Stella (Nicholas) Wagaman.
Len grew up in Colon, MI and attended school there until the tenth grade when he chose to leave in order to help his father support the family. He was drafted shortly after turning eighteen and served in the US Army, 101st Airborne Division, in World War II. Before being deployed, Len found Jesus by reading John 3:16 in the Bible while cleaning up after a chapel service. Leonard fought in several battles while in France, Belgium and Germany including the Battle of the Bulge. Once the war ended, Len returned home and married Mildred “Arleen” Carr within a few years.
Leonard worked his way into becoming a senior buyer for New York Airbrake which became Hydreco in later years. Len was responsible for all purchased items for manufacturing hydraulic pumps for heavy duty equipment. Len learned the game of golf at age forty and fell in love with the game. He played in several leagues and taught his sons how to play at a young age.
Leonard is survived by his children Annette (Jon) Pellowe, Darrell (Beth) Wagaman, and Dwight (Angela) Wagaman; Grandchildren include Jenny (Pellowe) Danahy, Melissa (Pellowe) Metsger, Todd Pellowe, Joel Pellowe, Tyler Wagaman, Eric Wagaman, Alden Wagaman and Caleb Wagaman; fourteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
