Leonard Lebowitz

Passed away Friday October 11, 2024, with his wife by his side. Leonard was born on December 29, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Meyer and Jean (Rocklin) Lebowitz. After graduating from high school, Leonard went on to graduate from WMU with a bachelor’s degree. On May 23, 1981, Leonard married his best friend, Barbara, who he spent many loving years with. He worked for over 35 years for American National Bank, which became Old Kent Bank, retiring in 2000. He was active in Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, as well as B’nai Brith.

Surviving Leonard is his wife, Barbara (Bennink); brother, Fredric Lebowitz; many loving family members including numerous nieces and nephews. To know Leonard was to love him. Preceding him in passing are his parents, Barbara’s parents, John & Agnes Bennink, and sister-in-law, Ainsley Lebowitz.

To follow Leonard’s wishes, cremation will take place with a memorial service on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 1pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49009. Friends may greet the family from 12:30pm to 1pm and a reception will be held at the same location following the service.
