JABCON, Leonard J., Sr.
Of Kalamazoo Leonard Joseph Jabcon, Sr. was born December 15, 1925, in Kalamazoo, the son of Joseph and Anna Madro Jabcon and died June 30, 2010, in Kalamazoo. He was a lifelong area resident who had served our country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. Leonard had been employed with Kalamazoo Paper Company and U.S. Post Office, from which he retired. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Leonard was an avid reader who enjoyed reading about history, trains and astronomy. His family was very important to him especially spending special times with his granddaughters. Surviving are two sons, Leonard J. Mary Jabcon of Kalamazoo and James M. Jabcon of Arkansas; two granddaughters, Sarah and Hannah Jabcon of Kalamazoo; a brother, Joseph Dolores Jabcon, Jr. of Florida and a sister, Dorothy Richard Kern of California. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 6, from 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, where a service to celebrate Leonard's life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday with Msgr. Michael Hazard officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials in Leonard's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
