MENDOZA, Leon M., Jr. Kalamazoo Died unexpectedly on October 11, 2006. Leon was born January 13, 1942 in South Chicago, IL, the son of Leon and Elisa Mendoza, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army and was employed for 40 years for the Inland Steel Company until his retirement. He lived in Whiting, IN where he was a member of the AmVets and the American Legion. Leon married Leilani Tackett in 1970 and they moved to Kalamazoo in 1999. Leon was preceded in death by his loving wife Leilani on June 24, 2006, by his parents, a sister Elisa Chavez, a granddaughter Hope Terry and a daughter-in-law Karen Terry. Surviving are 2 sons and 1 daughter, Darrell Tamara Terry of Branson, MO, Othel Michelle Terry of Kalamazoo and Lisa Chris Breneman of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren, Ryan, Paul and Jake Terry, April and Austin Terry and Michael Breneman; mother-in-law Ruth Tackett, brothers-in-law, Cecil Gloria Tackett and Charles Kim Tackett; sisters-in-law, Carla Bob Hostetler, Pam James Ballard, Marilyn Ken Hostetler and Terri Ballard; many loving nieces and nephews; and many friends. Friends may meet the family on Monday from 11:30 ? 1:30 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
