BUCHANAN, Lee Owner, Miss
Kalamazoo, Michigan Miss Buchanan passed away Friday morning, July 25, 2008 at her home. She was born March 20, 1932 in Okolona, MS, the daughter of the late Isom and Amelia Harris Buchanan. Lee Owner worked for Westwood Dry Cleaners for 53 years until her retirement in 2008. Lee received Christ in 1946 and was a longtime and active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Kalamazoo, where she was involved in many activities. She taught Sunday School, directed the youth choir, sang in the church choir and with the Buchanan Sisters Trio for several years. Surviving are her sister, Pastor Arria Buchanan of Denver, CO; 1 sister-in-law, Mary Lee Buchanan of Vicksburg, MI; 1 brother-in-law, Harold E. Peake Sr., of Kalamazoo, MI; 1 uncle, Willie Buchanan of Benton Harbor, MI; 1 aunt, Juanita Stanfield of Shannon, MS; nieces, Micheryl Peake, Patricia Norman Bates of Kalamazoo, MI; 2 nephews, Harold II Kim Peake of Park Forest, IL, and Michael Buchanan of Kalamazoo, MI; 6 great nephews, Corey, Norman, and Michael Peake, all of Kalamazoo, MI, Harold III, Dahkota Peake of Park Forest, IL, and Stephen Peake of Indianapolis, IN; 1 great niece, Ashley Peake of Park Forest; and 1 great great nephew, Richard Peake; special friends, Elizabeth Myles, Willie Williams and Betty Rogers. Preceding her in death were her parents; 2 brothers, Lee Willie Buchanan and Malachi Buchanan; 2 sisters, Elaine Buchanan and Mrs. Ada Peake. Funeral services for Miss Buchanan will be Friday, August 1, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 120 Roberson St., with Pastor Addis Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12-1 PM on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Mt.
