TINKEY, Lawrence W., Sr.
Of Parchment, Michigan Passed away Thursday morning, January 8, 2009. Larry was born October 10, 1932, in Decatur, Michigan, the son of Samuel and Viola Williams Tinkey and has been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952-53. For 29 years he was employed in the machine shop at the Clausing Corporation, from which he retired. Larry was a member and past-president of the Kalamazoo Eagles Lodge #526. On April 8, 1988, he was united in marriage to the former Carol Stuckum Heacock, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Kandice Henry Ouding of Kalamazoo, Donna David McMullen of Parchment, Lawrence Elah Tinkey, Jr. of Fruitland Park, FL, Steven Julie Tinkey of Portage, Rick Lisa Dando of Kalamazoo, Scott Tammy Dando of Portage and Tony Christie Dando of Kalamazoo; step-children, Barbara Dick Cavner of Kalamazoo, Bill Heacock and Brenda Heacock both of Parchment; 22 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Shirley John Myers of Plainwell, Helen Harold Weaver of Lake Odessa, MI, Norma Pace of Kalamazoo and Evelyn Bud Rowe of Newago, MI; many nieces and nephews. Preceding Larry in death were his parents, a brother, Richard Tinkey and a stepson, Jessie Heacock. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 11 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where a funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 12 with Pastor John Vick officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Larry's memory may be directed to Eagles Lodge #526, American Heart Association or a charity of your choice.
