Kalamazoo, MI Died Wednesday morning November 3, 2010 at his residence. Lawrence was born March 10, 1932 in Kalamazoo, Michigan a son of John and Margaret Elwood Skinner. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army as a Paramedic and received the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the Allied Paper Company for 19 years. He later worked at several Heating and Cooling companies before retiring from Shugers in 1997. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling, watching T.V. and building and flying remote control airplanes. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sons, Michael and Ricky Skinner. On February 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Joyce L. Conrad Skinner who survives. Also surviving, 2 children, Cindy Robert Wallace of Plainwell and Terry Melissa Skinner of Comstock; 8 grandchildren, Salena, Brandon, Ryan, Joshua, Jamie, Nikki, Chris, and Kerri; 4 great-grandchildren, Colin, Kylie, Tessa, and Ada; a sister, Dorothy Brown of Paw Paw; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 1 o'clock Saturday from the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice Program.
