Climax, MI Died Tuesday morning October 16, 2012. Larry was born August 13, 1921 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Michael and Clara Izzo Damato. During WWII, he served with the U.S. Army Medical Detachment 157th Infantry for five years, the last 16 months as a POW at Stalag 3B Furstenberg Brandenburg, Prussia until liberation. Larry had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1952. He owned and operated Larry's TV and Repair in Galesburg before becoming a salesman at Laing's TV in Kalamazoo. Larry then went to Nick Scholten Rent to Own where he served as general manager for 25 years before retiring. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Damato in 1977, and his former wife Lillian Liskovec Damato in 2011. Larry is survived by a daughter, Debra Richard Hunter of Climax and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo and the V.F.W. Foundation. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S.
