THOMAS, LaVergne, "Mickey"
Kalamazoo Peacefully departed this life on Friday, March 16, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. Mickey was born July 31, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Andrew and Marie Belland Callari and was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. She worked for Tony's Refrigeration for 33 years. Mickey was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Throughout her life, she was a shining example of how to give unselfish love and consideration to others. On August 11, 1962, she married William Thomas who survives. Also surviving are their children, Barbara Nance of Tempe, AZ, TL Nance of Kalamazoo, Carol Scott of Buckeye, AZ and Karen Brown of Plainwell; grandchildren, Travis Scott of Auckland, New Zealand, Melanie Joe Nance-Mannon of Chicago, Il, Samantha Brown of Plainwell, Kassandra Brown of Plainwell; great grandchildren, Madison Mannon, Sophia Scott, Michael Mannon, David Mannon, and Zoe Scott; two sisters, Marjorie McCreery of Kalamazoo and Charlene Abbott of Kalamazoo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday tomorrow at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 939 Charlotte Ave., with Rev. Fr. Stanley Witek, Celebrant. A private family interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. on Sunday today from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Borgess VNA Home Health & Hospice.
