Larry Edwin Halbert, age 81, passed away on April 22, 2024, at Fountain View Retirement Community in Portage, Michigan.
Larry was born on April 4, 1943, in Sturgis, Michigan, to the late Gerald and Velma E. (Frutig) Halbert. Larry was a graduate of Loy Norrix High School. Larry proudly served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force. He retired from Upjohn after 30 years.
Larry loved playing golf and enjoyed bowling and porch parties with his neighbors. He was famous for his sense of humor and quick wit.
Larry is survived by his children, Traci Kuis and Jodi Pio; grandchildren: Alicia Pio and Andrea Parker; great-grandchildren, Emmit Parker, Ivy Parker, and Logan Wnuk. Larry is also survived by two siblings, Gene (Joyce) Halbert, Garry Halbert, and many nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jennie (Laudenslager) Halbert, whom he married on April 1, 1983, in Kalamazoo, MI., and one sister-in-law, Bobbie Halbert.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 411 E. Centre Avenue, Portage, MI. 49002. Followed by burial at Mt Ever-Rest Memorial Park South, Larry’s family will begin greeting guests at 10:00 a.m.
