DOOLEY, L. J.
Of Decatur Died on September 1, 2010 at his residence in Decatur. L. J. was born November 21, 1938 in Haleyville, AL, a son of John and Evie Borden Dooley. He lived in Alabama until moving to Kalamazoo in 1964 at which time he was employed at Checker Motors for 30 years until his retirement. He moved back to Alabama for several years and returned to Kalamazoo in 2000. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed telling jokes. L. J. was preceded in death by his wife Norma Jean in 2009 and was also preceded by his parents; a son Jody Dooley; 2 sisters, Martha Harris and Bitha Dooley and 2 brothers, Brillan and Herman Cagle. Surviving are a daughter Lisa Doorlag of Hartselle, AL and a son Jason Susan Dooley of Paw Paw; 5 grandchildren, Cheyanne, Sierra and Zachary Dooley, Calab Doorlag and Gabriel Anderson; 2 brothers, F. D. Sharon Dooley of Texas and Philip Carolyn Dooley of Parchment; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 7 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline St. in Comstock with Pastor John Vick officiating. Friends may meet the family beginning at 1 pm until service time. Private inurnment of cremated remains will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Comstock Township. Memorial contributions in L.
