Kalamazoo, MI Kyle Lee Schuring, age 37, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, May 22, 2014, surrounded by loved ones at Bronson Hospital after sustaining a head injury in an accidental fall at his home. Kyle was born April 11, 1977 in Kalamazoo, MI a son of Jack and Carole Vanderberg Schuring and had lived in Kalamazoo for most of his life. He graduated from Portage Central High School in 1995. He attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University where he was a member of Sigma Chi. Kyle graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's in Aviation Science and Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Education. While at WMU, Kyle was a member of the Golden Key. Kyle was also an excellent chef and worked in several restaurants in Florida. He enjoyed flying, photography and reading. Kyle was currently employed at Parker Hannifin Corporation. On April 10, 2009, Kyle married the former Sarah Gordnier, who survives. Also surviving are: his daughter, Julia; parents, Jack and Carole Schuring of Portage; mother-in-law, Susan Gordnier of Kalamazoo; maternal grandmother, Gloria Vanderberg; brother, Joseph Jennifer Schuring of Kalamazoo; sister, Melanee Paul Bornemann of Norton Shores; niece, Kate Bornemann; nephew, Kaleb Schuring; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held 6 to 8pm Tuesday and 10-11am Wednesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. Services will be held 11:00 Wednesday morning at the funeral home, with Pastor Albert Dines, officiating. Interment in Portage South Cemetery will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an educational fund for Julia at any Consumer's Credit Union.
