BRAND, Kryn J.
Of Parchment, Michigan Went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 12, 2008. Kryn was born October 13, 1975 in Kalamazoo, the son of Jeffrey and Kathleen Maneke Brand and was a lifelong Parchment resident. He was a graduate of Parchment High School in 1994, where he was an outstanding basketball player. He later attended Kellogg Community College where he played basketball for one year and finished his college career at WMU. He was employed since 1991 at Meijers and was most recently a retail manager. Kryn was instrumental in starting the Parchment Youth Basketball Program in 1991 and over the course of the past 14 years served as boys and girls basketball coach and was currently coaching the girl's varsity team. Kryn's priorities in life were community and basketball, but only after God and family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Kryn and Catherine Brand. Surviving are his parents, Jeffrey and Kathleen Brand of Parchment; maternal grandparents, Gordon and Bette Maneke of Allegan; a sister Courtney Dave Vorva of Kalamazoo and a niece Chloe Vorva; aunts and uncles, Janice Maneke, James Brand, Jean Brand, Jill and James Culp, Janet and Wayne Laws; many cousins and special friends, Cassie, Kate, Vickie, Tom and Gonzo. A service to celebrate Kryn's life will be held at 3:00 o'clock Wednesday at Haven Church, 5350 N. Sprinkle Rd. with the Rev. Ken Dykhoff officiating. A reception will immediately follow this service at 4:30 pm at Parchment High School beginning at 4:30 pm. Private family interment will be at East Cooper Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 2-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kryn's memory be made to the Parchment Basketball Program.
