Portage Passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Residence, Kalamazoo. She was born June 25, 1945 in Escanaba, Michigan, to Lawrence and Ethelyn Schaap Klug. After graduating from high school, she went on to receive her Bachelor?s degree from Western Michigan University in Education. She was an elementary school teacher for 40 years in the Lakeview School District in Battle Creek. While still teaching, she pursued and achieved her Master?s Degree, also from WMU. She was very active in The New Vic Theatre of Kalamazoo, operating the lighting and sound systems, singing in the Christmas Chorus and assisting in other capacities. Surviving Kristine are; her mother, Ethelyn Garrard of Tampa; sisters, Suzanne Swanson of Schaumburg, IL, Barbara Paul Christensen of Wheaton, IL, Pamela Robert Rice of Tampa, FL and 7 nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her father, Lawrence. Memorial services will take place Tuesday, November 27th, 6:00PM, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed in Kristine?s name to, The New Vic Theatre, 134 E.
