STEWARD, Klazina P.
Of Portage, Michigan Passed away Tuesday morning, April 15, 2008. Klazina was born January 13, 1919 at home on Reed St. in Kalamazoo the daughter of Matheus and Adrianna VanDeKreek Verhaagen. During WW2 she was employed with Mastercraft and later the Upjohn Company till the birth of her first child in 1950 when she became a full time homemaker. After meeting the love of her life Joel M. Steward who survives at a dance at Fort Custer they were united in marriage on June 6th 1945.
Klazina enjoyed knitting, various crafts, attending rabbit shows with Joel, canning, gardening, and travel. Also surviving are 2 sons, John Teri Steward, Charles Steward; 4 grandchildren, Shawn Steward, Ryan Steward, Christopher Steward, and Ian Steward. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pietrenella "Nellie" Reidt. A service to celebrate Klazina's life will be held 11:00AM Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre St. with Pastor Greg Silvey officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family Friday evening from 6-8pm and one hour prior to the service at the Portage Chapel. Memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Loaves and Fishes. www.langelands.com
