CONKLIN, Kerry I.
of Kalamazoo Kerry passed away Friday morning, June 28, 2013 unexpectedly at his home. He was born March 4, 1950 in Kendallville, IN. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Conflict. Kerry was employed by National Water Lift for over 30 years until his retirement. On July 4, 1994, Kerry was ordained into ministry and has served his community at several Kalamazoo area churches. He had a great love for the Lord and loved his last few years serving his church family at the Church of God Family Worship Center, where he was a member. On May 19, 1984, Kerry was united in marriage to the former Kathleen Nelson in Kalamazoo, who survives. Also surviving are his three children, Kerry Lee Kimberly Conklin, Michael Conklin and Erik Conklin; four grandchildren, Jessica, Franklin, Donté and Kailey; two brothers, Thomas Zadie and David Kathy; sister, Mary Tom; mother-in-law, Shirley Nelson; and two sisters-in-law, Cheryl Mike Dudash and Lori Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Everett Conklin; mother, Molly Gasper LaMarche; step-mother, Betty Hale James; and father-in-law, Duane Nelson. A funeral service to celebrate Kerry's life will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, July 2, at Church of God Family Worship Center, 5841 E. H Avenue, with Bishop Edward Lane Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 5-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Church of God Family Worship Center Building Fund.
