WERTZ, Mr. Kenneth L.
Kalamazoo, MI Died Friday evening November 7, 2008. Ken was born September 30, 1935 in Portage, Michigan a son of Joseph and Mary Galbraith Wertz Sr. During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with Airmotive Manufacturing for 22 years, before retiring. He was a former member of Comstock Christian Reformed Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and Deacon. He also served as a Comstock Township Board Trustee; Comstock Fire Commissioner; and the Comstock Board of Appeals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents. On July 22, 1988, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Rozankovch Wertz who survives. Also surviving, a stepson Scott Rozankovich of Portage; a grandchild, Jace Rozankovich; 5 brothers and 4 sisters, Bob Wertz and his friend, Diane, Bill Shirley Valencourt, Joe Wertz, Dick Mary Wertz, Shirley Don Nance, Ron Jill Wertz, Audrey John Jenkins, Alta Perry, and Jane John LaRose; his best friend, Bill Becker of Schoolcraft; special nephew, Donnie Wertz; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held 11:30 Wednesday at the First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline St. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Michigan Diabetes Association or the Michigan Heart Fund.
