Dougherty, Kenneth Stanley
of Kalamazoo, MI & Grand Junction, MI

Ken Dougherty passed away on April 5, 2021, at age 75. The son of Sterling and Marian Dougherty, Ken was born in Kalamazoo on October 26, 1945. Ken was an Army Veteran and a contractor by profession. He was also a volunteer firefighter for many years. When living on Almena Drive in Kalamazoo, there were often serious car accidents on his street due to a sharp curve in front of his home. He saved countless lives by running to the scene and performing life-saving techniques until help arrived. Ken was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting. When weather permitted, you could bet he was outside enjoying his hobbies, tending his land, or building something. He was a master craftsman, recently building an addition to his home. His magnificent creative and artistic talent was exemplified in his work. Ken loved spending time with family, hosting an annual party for family and friends to gather.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn (Sue) Dougherty, his half-brother David, his stepdaughter Lisa Danielson, and his faithful doggy companion Shelby. Ken is survived by his children: Don Danielson, Don Dougherty, Shawn (Rebecca) Dougherty, and his grandchildren: Giselle (Tony) Kolenic, David (Trang) Danielson, Derek (Libby) Danielson, Chad (Sara) Janssen, Amanda Williams, Sydney and Cierra Howe, and his cherished dog Star.

A burial and celebration of life event will be announced in the future once Covid is no longer a threat. Memorials in Ken's memory may be directed to the Edward W. Thompson American Legion Post #49 in South Haven, MI.
