SCHURING, Kenneth D.
Age 66 of Portage, MI The life of Ken ended after a brief struggle with illness on Sunday, December 16, 2007, at University of Michigan Medical Center. He was born November 9, 1941 in Kalamazoo, the son of Tony and Anna Zwart Schuring and has been a lifelong Portage area resident. Ken was a graduate of Portage High School and received his Bachelor?s degree from Culver-Stockton College. During the Vietnam War, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard. For most of his life he was an integral part of the family owned and operated John Schuring, Jr. Company, working in all phases of the operation. Ken was involved in many community and civic organizations throughout the years, including the Portage Rotary Club. The most important part of Ken?s life was his family. Surviving are three sons, Chad Patricia Schuring of Portage, K.C. Lynn Schuring of Farmington Hills, MI and Ben Schuring of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Hannah, Christian, Nevin, Carolynn and Eileen Schuring; two brothers, Norman Vicky Schuring of Kentwood, MI and Roger Vicki Schuring of Grand Haven, MI; nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Street. Following visitation cremation will take place and a private family committal will be held at a later date. Memorials in Ken?s memory may be directed to the Kenneth D.
