WOLFE, Kenneth R.
Kalamazoo Ken passed away Friday afternoon, May 16, 2008 at Plainwell Pines Nursing Home. He was born October 30, 1922 in Oswego, NY, one of three children to John and Alice Payne Wolfe. Ken was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard serving during World War II. He was employed by Kalamazoo State Hospital for 34 years until his retirement in 1983. Ken umpired baseball for Kalamazoo City Leagues and Parchment Little League for 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and summer vacations in Pentwater with family and friends. Ken was also a member of SERA and KPH Guild. On April 3, 1948, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Harden. Surviving are is wife of 60 years, Betty Wolfe; 3 sons, Richard Wolfe of Mattawan, James Jane McDonagh Wolfe of Richland, and Daniel Sue Esman Wolfe of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren, Kylee, Joshua, Amanda, Sean, Ashley, & Carlin; and 1 great-grandson, Micah. Preceding him in death were 1 son, Steven Wolfe; his parents; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Warner, and JoAnne Klepper. Funeral services for Ken will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. with Pastor George Coon officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 5-8 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
