Of Portage, MI Passed away Sunday evening, October 4, 2009. Ken was born in Kalamazoo, March 16, 1938, the son of Merriel and Iva Hunt Krohn and has been a lifelong area resident. For 40 years, prior to his retirement he was employed with James River. Ken was a gentle, kind and generous human being, who loved country music and was a devoted Notre Dame fan. He was also an avid sportsman who enjoyed all sports including basketball and softball; especially loved fishing and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-father, Leo VanAvery; two brothers, Robert Krohn and Donald Krohn and by his beloved adopted pet "Spencer". Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Krohn and David Krohn both of Parchment; a sister, Marilyn Reynolds of Portage; two brothers, Richard Barbara Krohn of Portage and Gerald Sharon Krohn of Portage and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Ken's life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 10 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. with Pastor Jim Dyke officiating. The family will receive friends at the Portage Chapel on Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time. A private family entombment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
