VAN DYKE, Kenneth
Delton Passed away at his home on Monday, January 16, 2012. Ken was born December 23, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the son of Herbert and Alice Courtney Van Dyke and had been a resident of the Kalamazoo area for many years. He had been employed by the Upjohn Company for 34 years and was a member of the Centre Avenue Church of God in Portage. He enjoyed camping and loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren, and wintered in Texas for many years. On October 7, 1967, he married Mary E. Herder, who survives. Also surviving are his daughters, Sandy Don Mercer, Kathy Mike Armintrout and Carolyn Bill Blakeslee, all of Delton; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Ken was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Kaleward Van Dyke in 1967; his parents; a daughter, Linda Torok; and three sisters, Marjorie Lewis, Alice Lander and Clara Mae Shafer. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick with Pastor Richard Hertsel, officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest South. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. On lieu of flowers, memorials may be given the Centre Avenue Church of God or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
