DURIAN, Kenneth J.
Of Portage, Michigan Kenneth James Durian, born August 24, 1950, loving husband, father, "Kenny Boy" papa, son, brother, uncle, coach, and dear friend to so many beyond count, died suddenly Saturday morning March 29, 2008. Surviving are his parents, Robert and Jeanette DeVries Durian; also his wife of 39 years, Diane Boyce Durian; daughters, Kristine Durian Muller and son-in-law Jeff, and Susan Lynn Durian; and precious grandsons he treasured, Matthew Durian Muller and Grant Jeffrey Muller; brother, Dave and Kathy Durian; sister, Barb and Marc Russell; father-in-law, Phillip Boyce; in-laws, Dan and Sue Boyce and Karen and Gary Phillips; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and his friends who he gathered together with for golf, softball and many other activities. He served his country in the U.S. Air National Guard and was a member of Third Reformed Church. Ken was employed with The Upjohn Company/Pharmacia/Pfizer, where he retired as a pipefitter/plumber after 37 years of service. He loved sports and was a coach of the Portage Northern Men's Golf Team and the Kalamazoo Christian Girls Softball Team. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Third Reformed Church 2345 North 10th Street where a memorial service to honor and celebrate Ken's life will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 2, 2008, with Pastor Dar VanderWal officiating. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ken's memory may be directed to the Kalamazoo Christian School Athletic Fund, or Third Reformed Church Community Center.
