Kalamazoo, Michigan Ken passed away Tuesday, afternoon April 8, 2008 at University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor. He was born June 2, 1959 in Saginaw. Ken was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked in and loved construction. Surviving are his 4 children, Cara, age 23, Michael Kemp of Allegan, Kendra Martin, age 14, of Kalamazoo, Theodore Martin, age 9, of Kalamazoo, and Destiny Trainer, age 3, of Kalamazoo; 1 granddaughter, Sara Kemp, age 2; 5 brothers & sisters, Robin Jim Lewis, Patty Rich Williams, Kathleen Drew Fritts, Karl Jr. Marylee Gawne, Michelle Gawne; step-father, Karl Gawne Sr.; his 2 special women, Teddie Martin and Mary Farrell; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his mother, Carol Cox Gawne; his father, James Martin; and 1 brother, James Martin. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Friday at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at St. Helen Catholic Church, 737 N. Saint Helen Rd, St. Helen, MI, and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until the time of services on Tuesday at the church. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, St. Helen.
