Kalamazoo Passed away on January 29, 2011. She was born in Kalamazoo on February 26, 1921, the daughter of Kemp and Jennie DeLeeuw Terpstra and grew up in the Hays Park neighborhood. After graduating from the LaMar Beauty School, Katie was employed at the Milwood Beauty Shop. When Katie and her husband, Thomas, moved to Milwood, she opened up a beauty shop in her basement where she kept active as a beautician/cosmetologist for 63 years. Katie was a member of Milwood Christian Reformed Church. Katie was preceded in death by Tom, her loving husband of 68 years. She is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Carol Boven and James JoAnn Boven. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, Andrea Scott Nelsona�"Grace and Ian; Sara Mike Blackforda�"Katie; Mike Amy Bovena�"James; Beth Boven; David Beth Bovena�"Molly. She is also survived by her sisters, Jennie Rabb and Dorothy Vaughn; and sister-in-law, Betty Jean Timmerman. She was preceded in death by brothers John and Marinne Mike and sisters, Johanna, Jeanette and Dena. Family will greet friends on Friday from 10-11:00am at Milwood Christian Reformed Church, 3306 Lovers Ln., where services will be held at 11:00, Rev. Loren Kotman, officiating. Private committal will be held in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorials should be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or Milwood Christian Reformed Church.
