Kathryn D. Arnold

Kathryn (De Nooy) Arnold passed away on July 3, 2024, and she is now "absent from the body and present with the Lord." (2 Cor. 5:8). Kathryn was born on December 25, 1927, in Midland Park, NJ, the 7th and last child born to William and Jennie (Vanden Bosch) De Nooy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Harry G. Arnold on June 16, 2019. Married on June 29, 1949, they were married 2 weeks shy of 70 years. Kay was also preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, and their spouses: Garret (Minnie) De Nooy, of Denver, CO; Carrie (Andy) Schaaf, of North Haledon, NJ; Henrietta (Larry) Brandes, of Grand Rapids, MI; Margaret De Nooy, of North Haledon, NJ; Jean (Sidney) Boonstra, of Grand Rapids, MI; and Jack (Wanda) De Nooy, of Denver, CO; as well as a grandson, Bradley Arnold, of Fontana, WI.

She is survived by four children—Rebecca (late Bob) Furlong, Thomas (Cathy) Arnold, Sarah (Robert) Douma and Stephen Arnold; four grandchildren: John (Jennifer) Arnold, Christopher (Katie) Arnold, Kathryn Douma and Jacob Douma; as well as four great-grandchildren: Ella, Abigail, Olivia, and Theodore.

Kay usually worked behind the scenes as her husband pastored churches in Minneapolis, MN, East Palmyra, NY, Zeeland, MI, Lansing, IL and Grace Christian Reformed Church, Kalamazoo, MI. Kay's homemaking skills were topnotch, and she found satisfaction in gardening, cooking, baking, knitting, and sewing.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 9AM to 11AM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with the funeral to follow at 11AM in the chapel. A private family interment will be held, and Kay will be laid to rest with her late husband at Genessee Prairie Cemetery.
