Met her Lord in a welcomed embrace at 9:28pm Thursday evening, November 9, 2017 surrounded by loved ones both here and above. Kathleen was born November 20, 1942 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Harvey and Marguerite (Cox) Kuiper. She worked for 19 years at the counter of Sweetwater Donuts and was on the board of directors of New Horizon Village for 4 years. Kathleen attended the Cooper Baptist Church; had the gift of making people feel special; and was like a mother to many. She especially enjoyed being a grandma and was an animal lover. She also enjoyed sweets, especially chocolate; and listening to Elvis gospel. Kathleen is survived by her children, Richard (Denise) Parker, Larry Parker, Timothy Parker, Angel (Troy) Boyer, Jennifer (Amos) Kilgore; daughter by choice, Helena VanAntwerp; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Keith (Lois) Kuiper, Harvey (Carol) Kuiper, Marguerite (Dick) Musselman, Joyce Lancaster, Letha (John) Strong, Eileen (Thomas) Summers, Mary Ellen (Larry) Gerlach; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters and a brother, Nancy, Helen, and Marvin. Friends may meet the family on Thursday, November 16 from 10-11:00am at the Alamo Congregational Church, 7925 North 6th Street where service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Alamo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo Humane Society or Pet Food for Seniors.
