Kalamazoo, Michigan Katherine Densmore went home to be with her Lord, whom she loved and served, on Thursday, November 13, 2008. Katherine was born in Falmouth, Michigan on November 30, 1918, the daughter of Thomas and Tillie Workman. She was married to Rev. Bruce Densmore, a bachelor pastor of her Flowerfield Methodist Church. Together, they served churches across Michigan, one of which was the Kalamazoo Wesleyan Methodist Church on South Westnedge Avenue. Mrs. Densmore taught Sunday school and was church organist. Katherine was employed for twenty years as a dietician at the State Psychiatric Hospitals of Pontiac and Kalamazoo. After her retirement, she served as a cook at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission for seven years. She was a faithful member of Lighthouse Community Church formerly Kalamazoo Wesleyan Church and was an inspiration to all with whom she came in contact. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bruce and her beloved daughter, Esther, who died tragically in an automobile accident, May 6, 2005. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Robert, John and Okko Workman, sisters, Shirley Trask and Ruth Kimble. She is survived by sisters, Lena Meersma of Schoolcraft and Harriet Hackenberg of Marcellus, as well as a son, Thomas of Texas and niece, Kathleen Williams of Three Rivers, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 PM in the Lighthouse Community Church, 4321 S. 11th St. with Rev. Danny Janes officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Interment will take place in Ottawa Park Cemetery, Clarkston, MI. Memorials may be directed to the Lighthouse Community Church. www.langelands.com 343-1508
