Karin Allane Thomas, age 51 of Grand Rapids, died on June 30, 2024. She was born on July 12, 1972, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the middle daughter to Steve and Mieneke (Noteboom) Thomas. Karin was a 1990 graduate of Gull Lake High School and received a bachelor’s degree in visual merchandising from Western Michigan University. She loved her career and the places she was able to work. Karin had been a visual merchandiser for several high-end department stores in the beginning. She worked in the visual department at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville. Her favorite though was doing the visual displays for Art Van in Kalamazoo and Grandville. Her career took her to different areas, growing up in Richland, living on the east side of Michigan, Nashville, and then the Rockford/Grand Rapids area. Karin was a former member of Hope Reformed Church, growing up in the congregation. She was a lifelong Cat lover.
Her family includes her parents: Steve and Mieneke Thomas; her grandmother Ann Noteboom; her sisters: Kristina (Andrew) Poth and Karla (Bob) Durian; her nieces and nephews: Jordan (Gavin) Doxtater, Alex Poth, Jenelle Poth, Kenna Durian, and Collin Durian; and extended family including many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, July 8th, 2024, at 1:00 PM, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Location, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo, with Pastor Art Wiers officiating.
