DEBRUYN, Karen
Kalamazoo On Wednesday, December 19, 2007, Karen was transitioned from this life to live eternally with her heavenly Father and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born June 19, 1940 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Richard and Tena Greendyke Ritsema. Karen was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church, graduated from Kalamazoo Christian School and retired from Pharmacia-Upjohn. On June 27, 1958 she was united in marriage to William DeBruyn, Jr. who after 49 years of marriage mourns and cherishes her. She is also survived by their two children, June Curtis Bassler and Ross DeBruyn; 4 grandchildren, Justin Bassler, Josh Bassler, Katelynn DeBruyn and Amanda DeBruyn; 2 sisters, Evelyn Donald Musselman and Joyce Boyd Slocum; a brother-in-law, Jerry DeBruyn; a sister-in-law, Janice DeBruyn; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Robert DeBruyn in October of 2007. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 1:00 PM in the Second Christian Reformed Church, 3015 Nichols Road with Mr. Fred De Young officiating. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Friday from 5-8 PM. Memorial contributions may be given to the Second Christian Reformed Church Mission Fund, the Kalamazoo Christian School Association of Heritage Christian Academy.
