of Portage, MI Died July 21, 2009 at Kairos Dwelling. June was born June 16, 1928 in Portage Center, MI, the daughter of Porter and Lettie Foster Matteson and had lived in the Portage area for several years. She was employed for several years in sales for retail stores and most recently at Meijer on South Westnedge. June was preceded in death by her husband Robert and by her oldest son Ross. Surviving are 4 children, Karen Kent Dawson of Roswell, GA, Mark William Helen of Montrose, MI, Dean P. Ann Powe of Rawlins, WY and Troy Hollis Powe of New Hudson, MI; a daughter-in-law Vickey Powe of Peel, AR; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Donald Matteson and a sister Mildred Meyle of Portage; several nieces and nephews. June will be greatly missed by her second family, her co-workers at Meijer on South Westnedge. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. 343-1508 with the Rev. Chad Wells of the First Baptist Church of Portage officiating. Private interment will be at a later date at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm at the Portage Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions in June's memory be made to Kairos Dwelling or Borgess Visiting Nurse and Hospice.
