YONKERS, Joyce L.
Of Kalamazoo, MI Went home to be with her Lord, Monday, December 21, 2009. Joyce was born November 21, 1926, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Lewis and Adrianna Keifler Jaarda. She was a resident of the Kalamazoo area for over 30 years and was a member of First Reformed Church of Portage. On September 7, 1945, she was united in marriage to Duke H. Yonkers who preceded her in death on June 7, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Loux and Norma Albers; and a son, Lester Yonkers in 1980. Surviving are her son, Rodger Sally Yonkers of Three Rivers; her daughter, Lynn Yonkers of Portage; a daughter-in-law wife of the late Lester Yonkers Sandy Mark Hulst of Grand Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1-3 PM at First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 S. Westnedge Ave., where a 3:00 PM funeral service will be held. A private interment will be held in Boughton Cemetery. Memorials in Joyce's memory may be directed to First Reformed Church of Portage; Borgess VNA Hospice; or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
