Joyce A. Walters

WALTERS, JOYCE A. Joyce Aileen Walters, age 82, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at her residence in Kalamazoo. Joyce was born November 20, 1929, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Esther Lockard Morlan. She has been a longtime resident of Kalamazoo, and in earlier years had been employed with Impact Label Company and was a licensed beautician. Family was an important part of Joyce's life. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; by a sister, Lova Cronk; by a brother, Irwin Ashbrook; by her son, Michael Walters in 1956 and by her daughter, Nancy Hess in 2008. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Judy Walters of Vicksburg; four granddaughters, Abigail, Anna, Gracie and Claire Walters; a grandson, Eric Tammy Knowles; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Brittley; her sister, Lepha Trainer; nieces and nephews; and her longtime companion, Albert Cole and his family. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 24th from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 South Burdick Street, where a service to celebrate Joyce's life will be held 11:00am Thursday, October 25th with Pastor James Dyke officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials in Joyce's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
