Of Portage Joyce passed away Monday, December 19, 2011. She was born July 28, 1924 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of the late Gordon and Bernice Willis Reynolds. Joyce belonged to Portage Senior Center & Sister-hood for many years. On September 24, 1942, she was married to William Van Brooke, who preceded her in death on May 4, 2000. Also preceding her in death were her son, Mark Van Brooke; brothers, Ralph Dorothy Reynolds and Leonard Reynolds; sister, Mary Lou Robert Gray and sister-in-law Betty Joe Bowen Joyce. Surviving are her daughter, Kay James Bauer; 4 grandchildren, Kevin, Craig Ellen, Christopher Bauer and Michelle Aaron Pratto; and 5 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Nathan, Sophia, Lydia Bauer and Corynn Pratto. She was and aunt, cousin and friend to many. In accordance with Joyce's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2012 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until the time of services. Private burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
