Joyce Irene Boase

Joyce passed in peace, surrounded by her loving family the morning of Monday, June 24th, 2019. Joyce was born on March 20th, 1936 in Beardsley, MN the daughter of George and Marian (Struss) Longworth. She was a graduate of St. Cloud University and began her adult life as a teacher in Rockford, IL. Upon getting married and starting her family, she then became a full-time homemaker. Once all was complete with the raising of her family, Joyce then developed a new passion in quilting. Over the past several decades, Joyce focused on this love of quilting, taking her teaching roots, her deep knowledge and experience, as well as her extraordinary skills to the community as a quilting instructor. Here she developed many life-long friends and inspired many through her work, her teachings and her gentle but strong-willed personality and approach to life.

On December 31st, 1960 Joyce married her loving husband of 59 years, John Boase, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Bradley Boase, Susan (Robert) DeRoose, David (Lori) Boase; two grandchildren, Danielle Boase and Jennifer Boase; and several very close and loving nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her three brothers, Clifford, Lauren, and Neil Longworth.

Friends and family can meet to celebrate Joyce's life, her impact on our lives and to take comfort in the realization that she lives on in each of us at services this Saturday, June 29th at the Langeland Family Funeral Home Burial and Cremation Services, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Starting with a visitation from 10:00-11:00AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75231.
