BESTEMAN, JOYCE
KALAMAZOO Joyce slipped away quietly into the loving arms of Jesus, on Sunday, October 7, 2012. She was born in Moline, MI on November 16, 1943 to Lawrence and Aleta DeHaan and is the oldest of 6 children. Joyce graduated from South Christian High School in 1961 and Calvin College in 1965. She married her loving husband, Carl, on June 17, 1967. Joyce was a teacher and cook but her greatest love was her desire to serve and help others. She volunteered at the church as a leader for young girls with Busy Bees and Calvinettes. She volunteered with cooking and serving for Senior Lunch, playing the piano, and making goodies for bake sales. She was a leader in the community 4-H program. She served other patients and staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center. She was active in assisting with bake sales, knitting dish cloths, and selling personal cookbooks. She loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed designing cookies and cakes for everyone to enjoy. Joyce loved the idea of cooking and baking in heaven. Joyce had a true servant's heart and was deeply loved by so many people. Joyce is survived by her husband, Carl Besteman; her children, Tim Besteman and Lorilee Eric Russell and 3 grandchildren, Jayden, Kierah, and baby-on-the-way. She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Carol Mark Phillips, Evie Gary Timmer, Jerry Kathy DeHaan, Marilyn John Zweedyk, and Jewel Harley Todd; her sister-in-law, Jean Henk Vonk and brothers-in-law: Jim Besteman, Jack Besteman Pam, Dan Besteman Betty, Dave Besteman Lori, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. A memorial service will take place Monday, October 15, 2012, at 11 AM at Faith Chapel Ministries,
