Plainwell Loving wife, mother and grandmother, Josie passed away September 11, 2011 in Kalamazoo. She was born June 24, 1928 in St. Charles, VA, a daughter of Garfield and Marjorie Oliver Cowans and lived in the Kalamazoo area since 1950. Josie had been employed in several paper companies in the Kalamazoo area for many years. Josie was preceded in death by her husband, Claudie M. Vaughn on June 2, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Claude, Richard and Phillip Vaughn. Josie is survived by her children, Roy Katie Vaughn of Galesburg, Danny Cathy Vaughn of Richland, Louise Butch Van De Woestyne of Galesburg, Marvin Jackie Vaughn of Plainwell and Virginia Berky of Galesburg; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Daisy Baldwin; two brothers, Hampton and Grant Cowans, all of Virginia; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM in the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St. with Pastor Jon Zondervan, officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery of Kalamazoo. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
