WERTZ, Mr. Joseph R.
Kalamazoo Joseph died Wednesday evening, January 27, 2010, in Kalamazoo. He was born May 17, 1930, in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Joseph E. and Mary Galbraith Wertz and had been a life long area resident. Joseph served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955 and was employed by Consumers Energy for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly on August 25, 2005, and also by his parents and a brother, Ken. Surviving are: two daughters, Terrie John Rinehart and Nadine Martin Lovely; a son, Jason R. Deana Wertz; a step-daughter, Denise Miller; eight grandchildren, John Meegan Rinehart, Jr., Eric Amy Rinehart, Jordan Small, Chelsey Wertz, Jacob Wertz, Alex Day, Clayton Day and Chloe Day; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary Rinehart, Joshua Rinehart, Ryan Rinehart, Jacob Rinehart, Ian Rinehart and Lennon Day Callum Harold Donaldson; four brothers and four sisters, Bob Wertz, Bill Shirley Valencourt, Dick Mary Wertz, Shirley Don Nance, Ron Jill Wertz, Audrey Jenkins, Alta Perry and Jane John LaRose; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Monday afternoon at First Free Will Baptist Church, 630 Moline, with Pastor John W. Vick, officiating.
